On July 1, Arlington joined the rest of Virginia in implementing Phase 3 of Forward Virginia, the state’s plan to reopen after months of stay at home orders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As many of our businesses open their doors again for the first time in weeks or even months, we hope you’ll join us in supporting them by shopping, dining, and more at Columbia Pike’s wonderful small businesses.

Tips for Staying Safe

While stay at home orders are lifted, you are still “safer at home.” If you are supporting a local business, here are some tips to do so as safely as possible—for both you and the store’s employees.

  • Wear a mask or face covering in public
  • Wash hands before, during, and after visiting a business.
  • Stay six feet away from employees and other customers.
  • Check the business’s website for specific safety protocols.
  • Order online or by phone for delivery or pick-up whenever possible.
  • Limit browsing or unnecessary time inside the store.
  • Avoid touching unnecessary items or items you are not purchasing.
  • Pay for items with touch-less methods or via credit/debit card, not cash.
  • And don’t forget to tip generously! Service/hospitality employees have been hardest hit during this crisis and are at higher risk than other workers so be sure to show your appreciation.

Below is a list of those businesses we could confirm are open for business. Be sure to check the business’s websites for detailed information on specific safety protocols or changes to services or hours. If you have information on a business not listed here, please let us know.
