Sponsored by CPRO’s West End Committee, the first Sign Decoration contest in 2017 was judged by Signature Theater’s Artistic Director, Eric Schaefer. The winner was the Columbia Forest Civic Association and the prize was — bragging rights! The 2018 contest will be judged by another Arlington celebrity — Iain Armitage, the 10-year old native-born Arlingtontonian who stars in the hit TV show “Young Sheldon” on CBS-TV. The prize: in addition to bragging rights, Iain will create a video tweet to announce the winning civic association — and distribute it to his thousands of followers!.

Iain has a long history of reviewing theatrical events. He was a frequent visitor to Signature Theatre productions, where his mother, Lee Armitage, was an Assistant Director — who happened to work with two Signature actors, Amy McWilliams and Stephen Gregory Smith, who are now CPRO staff. They knew Iain as a baby, as he grew to love the theatre, and also grew to Internet fame by reviewing local theatre productions on YouTube. This led to an appearance on ‘The View’ at age 7, then roles in ‘Law & Order SVU’, HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’, and several films. Last year, he landed the role of ‘Young Sheldon’ on CBS.

Please confirm your Civic Association’s participation by November 15. Decorations must be in place by Monday, December 3 at Noon. Notify CPRO Events Manager
Stephen Gregory Smith of your participation and sign location at sgsmith@columbiapike.org
