DESCRIPTION:For Black History Month\, the Embassy of Switzerland and the Columbia Pike Partnership will host a panel discussion with impactful public historians and museum curators from the Washington metropolitan area. The focus of the discussion will lie on the importance of public history\, innovative curation\, and museum education as a tool for community engagement. \nCurious about storytelling as a form of activism and how innovative tools\, such as virtual reality\, play a role in education? Hear from Dr. Felicia Bell\, Senior Advisor at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History; Dr. Scott Taylor\, president of the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington\, a third-generation native Arlingtonian passionate about preserving his community’s history; and Marvin-Alonzo Greer\, a public historian bringing history education to thousands of followers online and to schools across Prince George’s County through the interactive Sankofa Mobile Museum. \nThe panel will be moderated by Jummy Olabanji\, NBC4 Anchor. \nEvent program: \n\nFeb 4th\, 2:30 pm. – 3:30 pm. Panel Discussion with Q & A at the Arlington Career Center (816 S Walter Reed Dr\, Arlington\, VA 22204)\n\n\nFeb 4th\, 3:30 pm. – 5:00 pm. Tour of the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington and VR Experience from the Sankofa Mobile Museum (3045B Columbia Pike\, Arlington\, VA 22204)\n\nThis is a FREE event\, but registration is required. \nRegister Now!
